What is PocketAnalytix?
PocketAnalytix is a unique product that gives access to corporate data, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Data, stored on a server, can be recalled over a direct or wireless connection to deliver SQL and OLAP data direct to your device. Views of data can be saved on to the device allowing key information to be viewed offline. And the ability to colour-code data, means that you will quickly be able to pin-point areas of interest.
Views can be refreshed any time that you go online, making sure that you always have the latest data to hand. PocketAnalytix is the ideal tool for mobile executives and field sales staff. The number of potential applications is infinite, including sales trends, debtor positions and stock reports.
What are Views and how do they work with my Data?
Views are pre-defined reports sourced from any OLEDB or OLEDB for OLAP complient database. Views can be recalled from a remote server (online) or locally from the device (offline). Views held offline can be refreshed or re-synced from the latest data on the remote server anytime that you go online.
When PocketAnalytix starts, you are presented with a list of views that are available on the device. If you go online, you will also be presented with a list of views that are available from the server. When navigating a view, any data that you recall from a remote server is cached locally on the device. By choosing 'Save' or 'Save As' from the menu-bar, you can save this data to an existing or new offline view. This data can then be recalled offline from the device.
You can also use your standard desktop PC as a gateway for getting data from the Server, to you Device. Views of data can be synced to your Device in a similar way to the way you already sync other documents.

How does PocketAnalytix work?
PocketAnalytix is split into four modules that logically locate on the hardware involved in the flow of data from corporate center to mobile user. These fully integrated modules and their functions are:
| PocketAnalytix Server This module is the server component that manages the requests for on line data. The module receives and processes queries and sends the result back to the Pocket PC in XML format. The XML results are incremental on the Pocket PC and all the query results in a session can be saved for off line review. |  |
 | PocketAnalytix Administrator This module runs on either an NT Server or Windows Desktop. It offers the ability to design 'Views' of either OLAP or SQL databases. Views are essentially templates that position a user when querying a database. They define the query, the initial rows and columns that are displayed and the dimensions or fields that are the filters. The Administrator also supports the definition of 'Scripts'. These Scripts are the combination of all the filters and drill downs that can be viewed when off line. |
| PocketAnalytix Client on the Desktop The Desktop module is a management console that enables users to run the Scripts that have been designed by the Administrator. These Scripts generate populated Views. Using RAPI the populated Views can be downloaded to the Pocket PC and managed. These Views can be navigated off line with drill up/down and filter changing. If data is not available off line then the user can go on line to the server and make additional queries. This extra data is cached with the existing data so that it can be saved for off line viewing. |  |
